Alicia K. Sandberg obtained a JD from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1994, and a BA from Barnard College, Columbia University in 1989. Licia practiced law in Westchester County handling civil litigation, appellate practice and oral arguments before the New York State Appellate Division, as well as Immigration and Nationality Law matters before the US Immigration Court. Thereafter, Licia managed a Rape Crisis Program and hotline for the Westchester Hispanic Coalition, White Plains, NY for 6 years before establishing an Advocacy Program at the Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY in 2018 to complement the existing hospital based forensic team of SANE examiners. She is currently the Senior Director of the Sexual Assault and Crime Victims Advocacy where she directs WMC’s Victims Advocacy Program including trauma informed and victim centered services for victims of sexual and gender-based violence. Licia is passionately committed to not only managing the team providing direct services to victims but also to eradicating sexual and intimate partner violence through prevention efforts. To that end, she develops and facilitates extensive trainings throughout the Hudson Valley to, among others, professionals, School Districts, Colleges and Universities, Law Enforcement, community members. Licia’s expertise encompasses program management and development of strategic alliance and partnerships including federal state and foundation funding procurement and management. Licia has lived experience as a victim of stalking which informs how she handles the work in this field. She was one of 13 recipients of Westchester Magazine’s 2020 Healthcare Heroes. She is a member of Westchester County’s Domestic Violence Council and sits on the Advisory Council for New York State’s Office of Victim Services.
