In that capacity, Mr. Green supervises the investigation and prosecution of all cases of domestic violence, child abuse, sex crimes, human trafficking and elder abuse in Westchester County and leads a staff of 30 professionals and support personnel in all aspects of their work on special victims’ cases.
Since joining the D.A.’s Office in 1987, Mr. Green has tried numerous cases involving sexual assaults of adults and children, sexual assault, child abuse and domestic violence homicides, other homicides, child physical abuse cases, cold cases, cases of domestic violence and many other types of crime not involving special victims. During his 35-year career, Mr. Green has also presented hundreds of cases to the Grand Jury, argued before the Appellate Division and responded to scores of crime scenes of homicide and other crimes. Mr. Green reviewed or supervised the prosecution of almost every adult sex crimes case in Westchester County between 1999 and 2015 as Chief of the Sex Crimes Bureau, and has been an advocate for countless victims of child abuse, sexual assault, elder abuse and domestic violence and other violent crimes.
Mr. Green conducts extensive training on behalf of the WCDAO as part of the office’s continuing legal education program and at the Westchester County Police Academy, the New York State Prosecutors Training Institute and at numerous schools and community events.
Since 2010, he has been an Adjunct Law Professor at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law where he teaches an upper level seminar on sexual assault law. Mr. Green previously served as an Adjunct Professor at Purchase College at the State University of New York for 20 years where he taught classes he created in the areas of sexual assault law and the criminal justice system. Mr. Green has also lectured at many Westchester high schools and colleges (Iona, Pace, Mercy, Manhattanville, Monroe, the College of Westchester and Purchase), Pace Law School and at civic, PTA and other community organizations throughout Westchester County.
Mr. Green is a member of a variety of working groups active in the fields of child abuse, domestic violence, elder abuse and human trafficking. He is a member of the Westchester County Child Fatality Review Team, the Westchester Child Advocacy Center Planning Committee, and the Westchester County Multi-Disciplinary Team for child abuse. He is also a member of the Westchester County Elder Abuse Multi-Disciplinary Team, the Westchester County Domestic Violence High Risk Team and the Northern Westchester Risk Reduction Team- initiatives focused on lethality assessment and other high risk situations in domestic violence cases. He is co-chair of the Westchester Anti Trafficking Task Force. He is the longest serving member of the Subcommittee on Sexual Assault and Family Violence of the New York State District Attorney’s Association, and also is a member of the Westchester County Domestic Violence Council, the New York State Elder Justice Working Group, the Westchester Medical Center Victim Informed Care and Trauma Recovery Task Force, and the One Love Foundation Coordinated Community Response Team. In 2020, he was invited to participate on the Governor’s Mid-Hudson Domestic Violence Regional Council and is co-chair. In 2021, Mr. Green was appointed to the New York State Domestic Violence Fatality Review Team.
Mr. Green is a contributing author/editor to the New York Prosecutor’s Training Institute’s Sexual Assault Prosecution Manual, 2014 edition and the author/co-author of several articles on subjects related to vulnerable victims’ issues.
In 2018, Mr. Green was recognized by the New York State Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs, with their 2018 Champion Award.
In 2018, he was also recognized by the Westchester County Department of Probation and the Westchester County Office for Women, with the 2018 James Cannon Award for his dedication and leadership in the field of domestic violence.
Mr. Green is a graduate of the Horace Mann School, Clark University and Pace Law School.
