Westchester County Office for Women

Westchester County Office for Women

For over 40 years, the Office for Women has worked to ensure equal rights for all women. We support women in difficult circumstances and celebrate their strengths and achievements. We advance the cause of women, support them in their choices and serve their needs.

The OFW is Westchester County’s central resource for all kinds of information concerning women and families – domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, sexual harassment, legal issues, employment, child care, education, equal pay, financial planning, women’s health, caregiving and aging. If the Office for Women cannot answer your questions, we will direct you to someone who can.

The OFW promotes equal rights, independence, dignity and equity for Westchester County women and their families through education and research, direct and contracted services, and by influencing public policy.

We offer our services in both English and Spanish. Our counselors are available by appointment for a confidential meeting with those seeking safety from all forms of interpersonal violence.

The OFW, in collaboration with The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Center for Elder Abuse Prevention at the Hebrew Home at Riverdale, Pace Women’s Justice Center, and the County Department of Senior Programs and Services’ Elder Abuse Coalition, has created a guide to help you plan for a safe and secure future.

The county's Minority and Women Business Enterprises (MWBE) Program promotes participation in Westchester and works to create a level playing field to help everyone succeed.

If you'd like to be informed of of events and programs such as those described in our News Highlights, subscribe to Quick News. By subscribing, you will periodically receive e-mails regarding information on our upcoming programs and workshops, scholarship opportunities, and other benefits and services available to women.

Other Resources

Women need many resources to help them succeed in all their roles. Caring for self and family members may require information on youth, aging and people with disabilities. All women need to stay informed on maintaining mental health and physical health. Whether married or single, women need to be aware of the risks of  HIV/AIDS. Lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgendered individuals can find resources at the LGBT office.  Adult protective services offers help with caring for adults over age 18 who are unable to care for themselves. Knowing about online safety for your family and your children can be very useful as well. View resources for Women's Rights.

Assistance for Veterans
Get resources for veterans and military families. Changes don’t only affect relationships between the veteran and his/her immediate family. Relationships with friends, parents, and other relatives can also be impacted. Read a guide to help understand changes and stress.

Safe Helpline is a national helpline developed by the Department of Defense (DoD) for sexual assault victim support. View the flier.
