Licia K. Sandberg obtained a JD from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and a BA from Barnard College, Columbia University. Licia practiced law in Westchester County handling civil litigation, appellate practice and oral arguments before the New York State Appellate Division, and Immigration and Nationality Law matters before the Immigration Court. She is currently the Senior Director of the Sexual Assault and Crime Victims Advocacy Program at Westchester Medical Center (WMC) where she directs WMC’s trauma informed and victim centered services for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, intimate partner violence, human trafficking, stalking, harassment and all forms of sexual misconduct. WMC’s Sexual Assault, Abuse and Victims Empowerment [SAAVE] Program’s direct victim services include a 24/7/365 bilingual toll-free crisis intervention hotline, accompaniment through forensic exams in WMC’s Emergency Department, and hosting the 24/7/365 LAP line for law enforcement in order to provide crisis intervention, safety planning and connection for domestic violence victims to the Westchester County Domestic Violence High Risk Team’s services. Comprehensive advocacy services are available to all victims served. Licia has years of experience managing victim advocates and direct services and is passionately committed to eradicating sexual and intimate partner violence through prevention efforts. To that end, Licia is responsible for all of WMC’s training and education outreach in this field including on area college and university campuses educating students, faculty and staff on New York State's Education Law 129 b "Enough is Enough" and Federal Title IX legislation. Her training is embedded in the Westchester County Police Academy. She has been appointed to the Westchester County Domestic Violence Council. Licia is one of 13 recipients of Westchester Magazine’s 2020 Healthcare Heroes.
